MGM revamps M life Rewards program at Borgata Atlantic City

MGM Resorts is making some big changes to the unique M life Rewards program at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey. According to the company, the revamped loyalty scheme will give more consistency in terms of the perks available to members across all MGM casinos.

Express Comps to roll out nationwide

The changes to the MGM loyalty program will take effect on October 1 this year and will firstly solidify how MGM calculates Express Comps. All MGM casinos in the United States will adopt the the Borgata model, which features a points system that is based on time played at the casino, the average wager made, and the type of games being played.

The new calculation of the Express Comps is already in place at MGM casino table games. It is also used for slot machine games at Borgata casinos, MGM National Harbor, and MGM Springfield. After October 1, the calculation of points will be used at all MGM properties for slot machines as well as table games.

Room discounts for M life Rewards members

MGM is also offering discounted room rates at all of their properties for M life Rewards members. All members will receive 10% off rooms at MGM properties starting October 1. This is the same discount rate that was offered at MGM Las Vegas in July this year.

On top of that, MGM will no longer have the POINTPlay cash-out program that was in play at the MGM Grand in Detroit, Michigan. M life Rewards members at that casino will not be able to cash out the points they have earned. As of October 1, any POINTPlay rewards earned at the Detroit casino will be converted to Express Comps points.

These changes are meant to make sure the M life Rewards program is a success across all MGM properties. It also ensures that individual members’ Express Comps balances will be the same regardless of which MGM casino they play at. There is more information about the new rules at all of the MGM properties and at the M life Rewards desk at the Borgata casino in Atlantic City.

What about the Borgata loyalty program?

In 2016, MGM Resorts International took a controlling interest in Borgata after purchasing a 50% interest in Boyd Gaming Corporation. In June 2017, Borgata then jettisoned its own loyalty program and instituted MGM’s M life Rewards program.

Since that time, Borgata players have accumulated points in the program as well as Express Comps, slot dollars, and tier credits. The credits can be used at all MGM properties across the United States.
