NJ Sportsbooks Quickly Post LSU Favourites To Win NCAA Title

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) title game is set with LSU the favorite at New Jersey sportsbooks over Clemson. The two Tigers’ teams face off on January 13th in New Orleans for all the marbles.

Right after Clemson came back and beat Ohio State 29-23 in the Fiesta Bowl several New Jersey sportsbooks quickly had odds for the title with LSU as the favorite. Just after midnight on Sunday December 29, DraftKing had LSU as a 3.5-point favorite over Clemson but then just 30 minutes later was at LSU -6.5 before settling at -5.5. Both FanDuel and Caesars had LSU opening at -3 with them settling at -4.5 on Sunday.

Clemson and LSU are the only undefeated teams in the nation and will feature the nation’s top offense of LSU taking on Clemson and their top-ranked defense. LSU is the highest scoring team in the nation while Clemson has given up the fewest points.

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron stated after their 63-28 blowout win over Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl that, “We have to be ready to play our best football game. Obviously, when you’re playing in a National Championship game, you’re going to be playing a very, very good football team.”

LSU has already faced and beaten four teams this season that ranked in the top 20 in the nation on defense. When the Tigers took on Georgia, who ranked 4th in the nation on defense at the time, they beat the Bulldogs 37-10 to win the SEC title with Heisman winning QB Joe Burrow passing for 349 yards and four touchdowns. In the Peach Bowl win over Oklahoma he had seven passing touchdowns and also ran for a score.

Clemson is the defending national champion and while undefeated their schedule was not nearly as tough as LSU’s. Clemson erased a 16-0 halftime deficit to come back and beat Ohio State and they are in the national title game for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Oddsmakers See High Scoring National Title Game

While Clemson has a great defense, New Jersey Sportsbooks see a high scoring game when they take on LSU. FanDuel NJ has the total for the title game at 68.5 points and DraftKings NJ has the total at 69 points.
